To remain at the forefront of architectural education worldwide, the Architectural Association (AA) relies on support from individuals, partners and organisations who share its pioneering vision and global values. Contributions, whether one-off donations, sponsorships, regular gifts or volunteered time, enable the realisation of the school's ambition to provide the highest quality of architectural education to the most talented students, regardless of their financial means.
As an educational charity and membership association, the AA receives no government funding. Philanthropic support from individuals and organisations is therefore essential to the institution’s present and future. The AA is committed to ethical fundraising, transparency and professionalism in seeking financial support, and contributions are accepted, managed and disbursed by the Architectural Association Foundation (AAF), an independent charitable trust established in 1989.
The Architectural Association (AA) must keep evolving and developing. This is a continuous process and requires financial support from generous individuals and groups that value its educational and cultural contributions to the architectural field worldwide. Making a one-off or regular donation helps the AA to build the funds required to achieve immediate strategic priorities and plan for the future; making a major donation supports the school in providing a relevant and progressive architectural education of the highest quality to the best students from around the world. Partnering with the AA can raise the profile of your business or organisation, give access to exceptional creative talent and help the school to produce high-quality research and cultural content. However you choose to give support, your contribution will have a transformative impact on the AA for generations to come.

The AA would like to thank all those who have donated to the school for their enduring support and generosity. Below is a list of just some of the supporters who have contributed to the institution in the past few years, and a short description for each of the lasting impacts that their donations have had and continue to have on the institution as it looks continuously to the future.
MAJOR DONATION
In 2013, Christina Smith made a historic single donation to the AA for the explicit purpose of improving the school. Her contribution made possible the expansion and enhancement of the AA Digital Prototyping Lab (DPL) and has enabled the institution to maintain its reputation as a global leader in architectural design and research. The renovated DPL, which opened in 2018, is now three times larger than it once was and houses state-of-the-art 3D printing technologies, CNC milling machines, laser cutters, 3D scanning equipment and industrial robotic arms.
AA WOOD LAB
The AA Wood Lab has been made possible thanks to the generous support of John Makepeace, who, as the Director of the Parnham Trust (1982–2001), founded the Hooke Park woodland site. Working with leading thinkers and practitioners, and collaborating closely with scientists, the AA Wood Lab will develop a research programme to educate architects in the sustainable use of forest produce to both build projects and drive new forms of research.
MARK FISHER SCHOLARSHIP
Established by James Fairorth and Tait Towers in memory of the late Mark Fisher (1947–2013), a world-renowned architect, stage designer and graduate of the AA, the scholarship awards one student with the equivalent of two full years of academic fees. Awarded to an individual of exceptional talent with an interest in the intersection between architecture, performance, media and engineering, it culminates in the production of a live and interactive event.
