Furnishing the Landscape builds on a series of material fabrication experiments that have unfolded over many years’ iterations of the workshop. Participants work with locally harvested timber and clay to emphasise the opportunities offered by combining digital and analogue fabrication techniques. Through collective efforts to reimagine the present environment by revisiting older and more traditional ideas, the aim is to coalesce notions of industry and craft, multiple and bespoke, and poetic and practical. The programme contributes to the creation of the outdoor dining area at Hooke Park, which includes a brick pizza oven and a freestanding roof structure – an area that participants enjoy during the programme’s midsummer setting with barbecues, shared meals and evenings around the campfire.
