The AA’s recent exhibition, AAAAYY: same same but different has been mentioned in an interview with Francisco Gaspar and Tawanda Chiweshe published in PIN-UP Magazine about their design studio, YY. The exhibition, which was on display at the AA Gallery until March 2026, explored the conceptual framework underpinning Francisco and Tawanda’s creative collaboration. In the interview, Francisco explains how the exhibition served as a reflection of YY’s studio practice: ‘it was really important to capture [and bring] the essence of our day-to-day into the AA. It’s a snapshot of where we are. The people, the ideas, and the objects that surround us are all part of who we are, and we needed to translate that.’
Writing in PIN-UP, Angel Harvey-Ideozu describes how AAAAYY: same same but different relates to YY's practice:
‘Taking this big idea on its first proper outing at the Architectural Association’s AA Gallery earlier this year, AAAAYY: same same but different presented what the studio estimates is about 2 percent of its work from the past eight years, positioning the studio table as a site of process, research, and exchange.’
