Two AA alumni, Monzie Tan and Serena Faizal, have been selected as part of the New Architecture Writers (NAW) 2026 cohort. Monzie, an architectural assistant at Purcell, and Serena, an architectural designer at Material Cultures, are among nine members chosen to take part in this year’s free programme for emerging writers. NAW began in 2017 and has since become a platform for new writing about architecture and cities by emerging critics of colour.
Monzie and Serena join a number of AA students and alumni who have joined previous NAW cohorts, including Lena Lali, Chisei Ye, Daniel Owusu, Ferial Massoud, Leela Keshav, Calvin Po, Nana Biamah-Ofosu and Aoi Phillips. The programme is directed by Thomas Aquilina and Tom Wilkinson with support from Leela Keshav, the Architecture Foundation and The Architectural Review.
