AA alum Liam Denhamer designs stage for Playboi Carti tour

AA alum Liam Denhamer worked with Rose Marie Johansen, Dawid Dinh Xuan and Tom Schneider to design the stage and set for Playboi Carti’s North American tour, which took place in 31 locations between October and December 2025. The stage design comprised a cantilevered platform layered onto two dynamic semi-trucks, which were revealed to the audience during Carti’s performance. The stage expanded accordion-style as the performance evolved. Additional trucks were placed within the audience, acting as satellite stages.

In a review of the tour, the New York Times described the set design as ‘stark and effective. Onstage, two side-by-side semi trucks stared out at the crowd, and a long platform sat atop them horizontally. Pickup trucks clouded in smoke stood on both sides of the floor, with a symbolic rager dancing and rapping on their roofs.’
