Winant Rooskandar is recorded as a member of the inaugural intake of architectural students at the Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia (1950). In 1964 he was affiliated with the Asian Regional Institute for School Building Research in Bandung and published a paper entitled “Environmental Control in School Buildings Through Planting” which advocated for the planting of trees around schools and their integration in design strategies. A few years later, in 1967, he published another report on laboratories in secondary schools. By 1968 he was living in London and had enrolled on the 1969-70 postgraduate 'Educational Building' course run by the Architectural Association's Department of Development and Tropical Studies. He subsequently graduated in 1970 with the AA's postgraduate Diploma. Full details of his later career are not yet known to us but by 1991-92, he is recorded in the World Bank Archives as having been part of the resident staff in Indonesia engaging in a project on Educational Development in the country.
