Both manual and manifesto, Baroque Tendencies explores how and why Northcote House in Melbourne, designed and built by LLDS, came to be. Shockingly new and yet strangely familiar, the almost baroque form of the house is the product of an experiment, a confluence between architecture, academia and fabrication. Paul Loh and David Leggett, the practitioners behind the building, argue that their mode of design and construction – what they call ‘digital material practice’ – is neither theory nor practice, but rather an engaged form of design research that achieves efficiencies in material use, spatial organisation and positive environmental impacts.
We are delighted to welcome Paul Loh and David Leggett to the AA Bookshop to celebrate the launch of their new book and to share knowledge gleaned from their work.
