Angle Iron brings together a diverse group of practitioners working across skateboarding, architecture and urbanism. The panel will explore how skateboarding functions not only as a unique urban activity and subculture, but as a critical lens for understanding and engaging with the city. Contributors include Iain Borden, Gustav Eden and Alexis Sablone. The event will be convened by Milan Solonenko.
At its core, the discussion asks: what does skateboarding do for the city? How can its improvisational and adaptive qualities contribute to stronger public life? And what can architects and urbanists learn from the ways skateboarders read, reinterpret and activate space?
By expanding the conversation beyond skateboarding itself, Angle Iron aims to open up broader questions about social infrastructure, public space and the conditions that foster vibrant, participatory urban environments.
