The following proposal is to celebrate and rethink the practice of design research through an exhibition and symposium organized around the work and discourse of the Architectural Association’s Design Research Lab (10 Years). The heart of the exhibition is a demonstration the potential that a collaborative design environment has made in the both rethinking architectural education and practice. Understanding how the terms of this rethinking have evolved and the direction in which we are moving is fundamental to the DRL experiment and the role design research plays in our contemporary design culture. The DRL proposals will look specifically at the results of 10 years of past and present graduates and staff and trace the work and its international influence. From running projects to running academic programs the influence can be seen on an international scale.
We are organising a twofold exhibition which will include: Papers by invited authors on design research as a reflection on the programme. A symposium will be organized with international guests from varied fields to debate and address the status of our contemporary condition. Essential to this project is the participation of our graduates. From the time being we are asking you to get in touch and send us information about you. Our aim is to illustrate these 10 years through a series of infographics and media about our studio and graduates.
