t-sa FORUM Vol. 5 : Refurbishment

Series: Book Launch

Time: 18:30
Venue: AA Bookshop
Running time: 0 mins

This limited edition volume documents the work of Takero Shimazakis visiting school t-sa forum x AA.

At t-sa, refurbishment projects of existing structures and places are continually undertaken which lead to questions of why and how we 'refurbish' something and indeed why do we refurbish rather than rebuild; Why do we refurbish? Why is it so common in the UK? What are the stories worth preserving through refurbishment? How much do we wipe away?

t-sa forum 2014 explored why and how refurbishment is executed by investigating 3 case studies; Osterley House, The Attendant and The White Cube Bermondsey.

The research was carried out through photography, text, drawing and printing with accompanying workshops on each new technique. t-sa forum approached the research as a design process in a research studio.
