Call for Applications from the AA Membership for AA Council Membership

This is an open call for AA members with the skills described below to apply to join the AA Council as directors and trustees of the Architectural Association (Incorporated).

The AA Council is seeking individuals from the AA membership with particular skills and experience as follows:

    • Members who hold or have held a senior position in a substantive architectural practice; and
    • Members who have significant experience and interest in fundraising and development gained in an organisation comparable to the AA.

Applicants must:

a)      At the time of application, be a full member of the Architectural Association and continue to be a full member for the duration of their tenure on Council

b)      be willing and able to perform the duties of a member of Council as described in the role profile (see attached);

c)      be able to devote sufficient time to attend and prepare for a minimum of 3 Council meetings per annum; 3 Council workshops per annum and attend committees and other working groups as requested;

d)      be willing to serve as a member of Council for at least one term of 3yrs (members of Council are limited to a maximum of 2 terms of 3yrs);

e)      not have been disqualified under the Charities Act 2011 from acting as a charity trustee due to:

–         having an unspent conviction for an offence involving dishonesty or deception;

–         being bankrupt or having entered into a formal arrangement with a creditor; or

–         having been removed as a company director or charity trustee because of wrongdoing.

Please submit your name, membership number, CV and a short statement of no more than 200 words confirming your eligibility for appointment and describing how you meet the skills and experience being sought.

In the event more than one candidate meets the eligibility criteria for one of the skills set being sought, those candidates will be put to a membership vote. In the event one or no candidate meets the eligibility criteria for one of the skills set sought, Council may at its discretion appoint the sole candidate or call for further applications.
