EVANS, Cerith Wyn
In Girum Imus Nocte et Consumi Mur Igni
Running time: 59 mins
Nature must carry the sign of its own figuration in order for culture to recognize it. Bonsai trees, neon lights, concave mirrors and fireworks are just some of the materials/objects that artist and ex-AA tutor Cerith Wyn Evans has used in recent installations. His work deals with the phenomenology of time, language and perception, and reflects his fascination with how we perceive nature and how we decode situations when the meanings of the object of perception are hidden and/or encrypted. In his frequent employment of means of distortion and disorientation he reminds us of the fragility of this construction we call nature. Cerith Wyn Evans has exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions international.NB: Questions inaudible during Q & A.
