Alessandro Bava & Harry Burke

City of God

Date: Tuesday 10 November 2015
Time: 13:00
Venue: New Soft Room
Running time: 0 mins

A poetry reading from the authors of the ebook City of God, Alessandro Bava and Harry Burke. With an introduction on poetry and architecture.

City of God is a book of poems by Harry Burke and architectural renderings by Alessandro Bava. The poems are a response to the architecture, which in turn illustrates an imagined mega-church and monastery for a post-bankruptcy Detroit. Each drawing is like a poem, and each poem is like a space in which you can live. Each reading is like a confession. Together they build a city of belief, a City of God.

Alessandro Bava is an architect and artist based in London. He is the director of the design studio Bava and Sons, the co-founder of the art collective ÅYR and editor of the ecology zine Ecocore.

Harry Burke is a writer based in New York. He has edited the poetry anthology I Love Roses When They’re Past Their Best (Test Centre, 2014). Webstite:
