Portikus is an exhibition space - a production site rather than a traditional gallery - that plays a central role in the life of the Stdelschule, the Academy of Fine Arts in Frankfurt. Daniel Birnbaum is Rector of the Stdelschule and directs the exhibition programme at Portikus. He is a contributing editor of Artforum. In 2002 he co-curated the Venice Biennale.
