Book Launch: Public Phenomena and Mobile Phenomena
Date: Saturday 23 February 2013
Venue: AA Bookshop
AA Bookshop and Temporary Services invite you to a presentation of three new publications from Half Letter Press:
Public Phenomena Poster Booklet is a fold-out publication made specially for the exhibition Public Phenomena and Mobile Phenomena in the AA Member's Room.
Mobile Phenomena documents common instances of bookmobiles, mobile forms of commerce, inventive mobile art projects, mobile structures created for use during protest, and some strange applications of mobility that defy easy description, categorisation, or whose function could not be readily discerned.
100 Actions is a booklet by the Chicago based artist group Lucky Pierre that documents a part of their contribution to The Chicago Torture Justice Memorials Project. The booklet includes the first 100 actions written by the group.
Temporary Services have been making exhibitions, events, publications, and public interventions as a group since 1998. In 2003 they co-founded the influential artist-run space Mess Hall in the Rogers Park neighbourhood of Chicago. Recently they have begun publishing and distributing publications through their imprint, Half Letter Press, where they present the work of allied artists, as well as their own booklets and books.
Following the Membership gallery talk at 11:30, all three publications will be available and there will be a special presentation of titles from Half Letter Press in the bookshop vitrines.
All lectures are open to members of the public, staff and students unless otherwise stated.
