Streetware

Wednesday 5 – Saturday 15 July 2017

Streetware continues its journey throughout Southeast Asia to visit Bandung in Indonesia.
Our design methodology investigates how tangible and intangible recordings of existing conditions set out the base for new design briefs that would activate the interface between buildings and city, activity and users, physical and digital, with the participation of local and international talent. A multi scalar approach would guide the architectural propositions that would transform the existing city fabric to redefine the Cultural District of Bangdun.
ThinkCity, Fundacion Metropoli, Bandung Creative Cities, BCCF, and Bandung Institute of Technology will team up with Architectual Association Visiting School Bandung to enhance the dialogue between the local and international participants and run a series of lectures in parallel to the design investigation as process of the workshop.

Prominent Features of the workshop/ skills developed
Teaching team: Streetware tutors are selected from recent graduates / current tutors at the AA. Participants engage in an active learning environment that include group work, pin ups, presentations and lecture series from invited guests.
Computational skills: The toolset of Streetware includes but is not limited to Rhinoceros, Grasshopper and Adobe suit. Sketching, photography and recording are encouraged as part of the design process.
Lecture series: AA Streetware team will engage with participants in evening lectures series to share specific expertise and work experience. This would be complemented with software support tutorials. A symposium at Bandung Institute of Technology aims to bring together local and international practitioners to discuss the role of urban and architectural regeneration. The research workshop will conclude with a public event to share the work produced to the city of Bandung.
